OP: Hello everyone welcome to crystal english. I am seadog S-E-A-D-O-G. Today’s programwill focus on this world famous soccer game, which hasa 10-year history.
I think some of you havecaught today’s topic. This timee, I seadog will take you to the world of Winning Eleven to review the history of this game and arouse your old memory.
In year 1996, the first edition of winning eleven was born, named Perfect Eleven that time.
Konami Computer Entertainment, the main prodcer of the WE never thought It was WE that bring them to the list of top-class game producers of the world. They never imagined that the soccer game Perfect Eleven would become the trade-mark game for Konami.
During 1996-1997, the Perfect Eleven made a nice debut in the circle of soccer game. However, it only shared a small portion of the market. For the big head were lready there. FIFA from EA and World Wide Soccer from SEGA.
1997, Konami presented their second edition and changed its name to Winning Eleven, which become well-known by the world later.
The good opening of Perfecy Eleven gave the Konami muh confidence on going on developing their soccer game. The programming group of Winning Eleven was largely expanded in 1997, which brought a dramatic enhancement of the game. The participating team had increased to 32, compared with 22 teams in the previous edition. And they introduced cup mode to winning eleven 97, including Euro Cup, American Cup, Asian-Pacific Cup and of course the International cup.
In year 1998, the year of world cup, it was the best chance for Konami. It was the time when SEGA began to decrease and Konmi established its exclusive programming group for sports games named Konami Sports.
Appearently, Konami subtitled Wining Eleven 3 “the dream in France”.and the teams were increased to 40. besides, there were 2 all-star teamsin it. Soon after the world cup, winning eleven came to its Final Evolution, modifying the players’ data according to their performance in the World cup 1998 and son attracted a large gang of soccer-fans.
Winning Eleven 4, which and regarded as the “Milestone” of WE games, is the best known for its elegant graphic and the introduction of Master League mode.
Presented in 1999,WE4 was greatlt improved in video,audio, manipulation and the description of a soccer match. It provide a good sample for WE2000 and WE2002.
The master league mode executed a good interacrtion between the player and the game. Players can buy their favourite stars and make a dream team instead of choosing a fixed national team. This master league mode may be the best popular with players an meanwhile the most successful creation of Konami Sports.

In year 2001, the advanced video game platform Playstation 2 was completed. Konami soon made their first work Winning Eleven 5 for Playstation 2
And players can get more freedom when playing for the volume of the games was greatly enlarged. For instance, the edited player can be available both in match mode and master league mode. And many world famous stars began to have the appearance of their own.
Team China has made its second appeaerance in WE games. In previous edition, it had already attracted many Chinese soccer fans and in Winning Eleven 5. the data was updated and become more accordant with the reality.

The opening CG was considered the longest and most successful in WE series. And the backgroud music also reached a highest peak in WE games. The opeing theme “we will rock you”and “We are the champion” can be said the most popular We music. A large amount of ochestra-styled BGM was applied, making the game more splendid.
Like the old time, the final evolution was soon made known after the world cup 2002.
Team china became the weakest teamin WE for the poor debut in the world cup.
At the same time, WE bean to challenge the throne of “top soccer game” by putting WE in vaious gaming platform such as NGC, threatening the diminant position of FIFA from EA.
After one years’ striving, winning eleven had grown to a game that can be almost equal in popularity with FIFA from EA.
More exciting thing was that Winning Eleven 7 was sucessfully transplanted to PC platform. Pro Evolution Soccer 3 became the first official WE present.
Tking advantage of its growing popularity, WE deveoped its international version to meet the different tastes of players from all over the world. This is a crucial step for Konami to surmount the EA Sports.
128 teams, it is a large number that WE never had before. 64 nationals plus 64 clubs covers the whole English Premiership and Italian seria A.
Part of the teams were authorized to have their real name in game such as AS Roma and AC Milan. This is a sign that WE was accepted by European gamers.
WE became more and more internationalized for it cover almost all European chief league teams and some strong troops in other continents, attacting more and more Euro Players after conquering Asian gamer’s hearts.
The commentory language was dramatically enriched in this editiong with 16,800 sentences and nearly 6000 players’ name in 3 different tongues. The game was almost the same as a live soccer match.
Later, in Feb, 2005, WE8 released its Liveware Evolution. This placeda a posibility for PS2 gamers to play online with others and meanwhile PC userscan creat a network game to play as they do in other online computer games. This is a grat enhancement to made Winning Eleven become cyberized.
After conquering Euro gamers’ heart. WE began to invited real football stars to be their spokeman such as Shunsuke Nakamura, Zico, namely Cogneinbra in Japan and Thierry Henry, John Terry in Europe, making WE a world-class tactic action soccer game. And after the summer 2005, the WE game had already won over FIFA in market, making itself the World NO. 1 soccer game.
9 years ago, the chief directior of WE programing group had made a target, that is making WE the world’s best and after 9 years’ of hard work, made his dream come true.
April 27th, 2006. winning eleven 10 was released. A best gift for the 10th annniversary of the WE games founding. And of course the best gift for everyone who love soccer games in a special world cup year.
