Snake Eater 完结篇---向The Boss致敬 2006-12-10 8:25:54 | 向The Boss致敬
I escaped from prison but nothing deserved being happy for I was still under heavy guardians. According to the note, Eva had stolen out and put all my stuffs in the underground tunnel nearby the cell room, 200 meters from here. But it took me almost half an hour to sneak thought the tight defense, not making any noise. When I got my stuffs, Eva told me that we must hurry to the Shagohod for the 2nd enhancement of Metal Gear had completed and was about to start up.
When I got out of the tunnel Eva was there waiting for me in her sidecar, telling me to escape for she had planted 3 C3 bomb in the basement and intended to destroy the Shagohod by explosion.

When we were ready to set out, we heard a boom from basement, and a large metal monster growled and rose by crashing the basement roof. The driver must be Volgin.
He was absolutely driven mad and took us as nails in his eyes and tried all means to grind us into dust. C3 bomb Eva had planted had taken effect, but I seemed useless to this monstrous machine. We hurried to the armory and picked us some explosives and rocket launchers. The only way to stop it is to coax it to the bridge ahead and bomb it down to the valley.
Volgin, driving the metal gear, and pounced desperately to us, which I most want to see. When we crossed a bridge I tossed some explosives and smashed them by a rocket and the Metal Gear Shagohod fell down to the deep valley.
I thought I won, but the Metal Gear started again. Volgin stood on top of it, amazingly boot this huge weapon with his own electricity! But after all he could not handle the Shagohod for long. After evading some rockets and machinegun shoots. I shot right in his head using the sniper rifle left by the End.
Across the jungle, I soon realized that I had a inevitable mission to finish. That is eliminating the Boss.
She was standing quietly beside a lake at the end of the jungle.
Till now, I still have not enough courage to recall this period of miserable memory.
Is she really betrayed? No! but she was indeed act against the USA or I can say work with Kruschev’s men.
Through her eyes, could I see a strong will. It was a mixture of the wish to die together with a desire of letting me live.
She was content to die? Why she did so?
No time to think. Perhaps I will never find the answer. Who would thought my final rival is my instructor? Life, was so complicated!

Although I won the battle against the Boss, There was a deeply guilty feeling inside of me. I had betrayed my loyalty towards the Boss, After all, she had given me so much and I even hadn’t enough time to repay it.

But later I knew the truth.
[Debriefing]
She was totally the victim of this action. It all began with the Cuban Missile Crisis. The situation was not good for American you know. In order to moderate the conflict between the East and West, US Force had conducted the betrayal of the Boss. But things got worse when Volgin tried to shoot the American nuclear warhead and meanwhile the Soviet troops uncover the American aircraft on their radar. This was considered an American’s invasion of Soviet territory. To cover the truth, the US government had no choice but make a diversion at the cost of the Boss’s death. And the Boss was entitled “the Criminal of War”.
And The Boss was the star of the show. They planned it so that they could get the Legacy that Colonel Volgin inherited... and destroy the Shagohod at the same time. Only a legendary hero like The Boss could have earned Volgin's trust. Finding out where the Philosopher's Legacy was hidden was to be her greatest mission. Everything was going according to plan. But then something happened that no one could have predicted. Colonel Volgin fired an American-made nuclear warhead at Sokolov's research facility. Khrushchev demanded that the US government provide proof that it wasn't involved. They couldn't just abort the operation to steal the Legacy. So the operation itself was greatly expanded and revised. The authorities in Washington knew that in order to prove its innocence they'd have to get rid of The Boss... and that one of their own would have to do the job. The public couldn't be allowed to find out about... not ever. This, they concluded, would be the best way to keep the whole thing under wraps. The Boss wouldn't be allowed to come back home alive. And she wouldn't be allowed to kill herself. Her life would be ended by her most beloved disciple... That was the way the government wanted it. That was the mission she was given. And she had no choice but to carry it out. Her death at your hands was duty she had to fulfill. Out of duty, she turned her back on her own comrades. A lesser woman would have been crushed by such a burden.
The taint of disgrace will follow her to her grave. Future generations will revile her. In America, as a despicable traitor with no sense of honor. And in Russia, as a monster who unleashed a nuclear catastrophe. She will go down in official history as a war criminal. And no one will ever understand her. That... was her final mission. And like a true soldier, she saw it through the end.
history will never know what she did. No one will ever learn the truth. Her story... her debriefing... will endure only in your heart. Everything she did, she did for her country. She sacrificed her life and her honor for her native land.
She was a real hero. SHE… was the true PATRIOT! (ECHO)
