隨著個人首支單曲"I Love You Always Forever"在排行與銷售成績的雙贏助瀾下，讓唐娜路易斯入圍美國音樂獎流行/搖滾類「最受歡迎的新人」、Billboard雜誌1996年最佳新進流行藝人的第6名。
這位出生於威爾斯的歌手兼詞曲創作者，自6歲開始學習鋼琴，14歲生日後開始寫歌。進入威爾斯音樂戲劇學院主修鋼琴與長笛，並立志以音樂做為終身職志。在首張專輯「Now In A Minute」的大大暢銷後，唐娜並為因此而休息，反而在97年底至98年初在自家的錄音室為新作催生。
新專輯「Blue Planet」的創作靈感多半是來自於唐娜現位於都柏林的住所周遭所發生的人、事、物；如新專輯中的"Beauty And Wonder"、"Blue Planet"便是因此而產生的；除了自己本身擔任鍵盤樂器的彈奏外，亦有多位知名樂手加入專輯的伴奏工作，如在上一張專輯即出現的吉他手Gerry Leonard (Paula Cole、Laurie Anderson)、貝斯手Tony Franklin (Jimmy Page)；鼓手Ralph Salmins (Bjork、Van Morrison、Everything But The Girl) ；除此之外，David Lowe及Paul Waller也加入鼓聲的編排工作，吉他手Jimmy Smith，幫Bruce Springsteen、Sting、Peter Gabriel伴奏的鍵盤手David Sancious也加入專輯的錄製工作。
首支單曲"I Could Be The One"在一陣顯明的鼓點中，伴隨唐娜輕柔的嗓音，道出一個女人其實是可以完成許多不同的事情的。"Love Him"則是難得一見的舞曲樂風；而具有強烈旋律放克味十足的"Beauty And Wonder"亦讓人耳目一新；"Take Me Home"一曲原本則是為動畫電影「真假公主安娜塔西亞」所創作的(雖然她也與Richard Marx在原聲帶中合唱了"At The Beginning")。整張專輯在豐富的鍵盤樂音、輕如空氣的吉他聲響與唐娜極具特色的嗓音鋪陳下呈現出一張讓人猶如置身天堂的作品。
